In 2009, volunteers within the EAA Chapter 43 started to notice a trend at monthly Young Eagles events – more and more young folks were showing up on a regular basis wanting more – more than just a ride in an airplane.
They wanted to simply be around the airport, planes, and the volunteers to learn. They began to ask if they could help work on projects that the adult members were working on just so they could hang around aviation in some form or other.
One of those young people was a 13 year old girl named Destiney who had the aviation bug so bad that she approached Chapter 43 with an idea to start some form of youth program for kids just like her....
With that simple initiative, Young Aviators had its start.
